How do you retrieve a microsoft 2003 product key when you've lost the code?
We bought microsoft word 2003 and whatever else comes with it four or five years ago, now. But my computer died in May. I reset it to factory conditions because I thought I wasn't going to lose anything and it was cheaper then taking it to get repaired.
I have the sticker for the microsoft key. Yet it's not working when I type it in. I try to click on the 'purchase key online' button, and that too fails to work. I get an error page, although I don't know if it's me or the link provided. (http://sugarr.sitesled.com/uggh.GIF - error page)
Could someone tell me how to either get the old key working, or purchase a new key? Is it because I've already entered this key before my computer threw a tantrum that it's not working now? Is there anything I can do about this?
I /need/ microsoft word as soon as possible so I'd appreciate it =)
First, make sure that you are entering the Product Key and not the Microsoft code. The Product Key specifically says "Product Key" by the number, can't be mistaken for anything else.
You should be able to reinstall the software as many times as you like, so the error with the key, if you are indeed using the proper key, is with the program itself. You should NOT have to buy a new product key in order to install the program.
The only other reason it may not work is if you have it installed on multiple machines, it may possibly be locking you out because you have too many installations using the same key. Or perhaps it's still recognizing the previous installation as a currently in use installation, which it should not be doing.
Either way, simply email Microsoft for assistance with the issue, they're pretty good about helping out with errors like this. If you registered your product, which I believe you would have had to do in order to use it, then the proper product key will be registered with them and they can help you get it running.
Hope all this helps.
